owning photographs is a very slippery slope. both side are equally valid in their points but then we need to remember that in both cases that we're talking about what could happen. Photo-synth hasn't been launched yet and the girl wasn't hurt by any means. Photo-synth has potential to be great and in some circumstances some one's private photos could be spread around the world.
as far as i'm concerned once you put your pictures online they're fair game to be used. I personally post plenty of my pictures online in the false hope that no one takes them. but i also turn down the resolution on my images when posting them so if people do use them they don't have the original image. I use google image for inspiration a ton. I rarely use it for projects because the pictures are a pain to work with and its copying and there by not really your work. companies don't really like that.

response to reading
the author talks a lot about the meaning of a photograph and the power that it holds. the idea that this simple piece of paper can capture an incredibly important time in the person's life and that when he talks to them these become such a pivotal part of the memory. i really like where he talked about what men are typically photographed by and what women are normally photographed by. this interests me and might be what i'll to my 8x8 project on. also when he talks about people faces being hard to remember, and thats why we have drivers licenses. this could make for and interesting project.

photo future
as long as people had been painting they had been trying their best to portray exactly what they saw. Then the camera came along and was able to do this much easier. Painters didn't see and future in photo realism painting. This gave way to the Abstract movement. Digital cameras have been trying now to photograph exactly what is seen. How many megapixels can we put into one image? The age of abstract photography is upon us and we have no choice but to let this wave hit us in the chest.

thoughts
Teach me about your thoughts on life, people have their ideas on how the after life is, who their god is and what he/she is going to be like. This is wrong, eat this now, say this and kneel, now sit. We've put too much thought into something that isn't going to be there in the end. Crazy shit happens, and thats enough to make me happy. The church has become such a business to me. People have killed for this book that might not even be translated right.I can or can not marry another guy because the guy calling the shots is so into the bible. Separation of church and state? give me a reason why its not ok to be gay, is that just as bad as me eating meat last friday?
I'm ok with it that you went to church on sunday but what does that have to do with me? You don't want to see graffiti on the walls and i don't want to see you crosses in my town. I'm passive as i can but i'm passionate.
we're going to die and float in darkness for ever. thats the end.

Metamorphasis
Maybe its just the class but i really like this book metamorphasis. its really open to interpretation. i'm going to assume you've read it cause there's no way i'm summarizing it for you, my unanimous reader. well i've had a few theres that have pretty much been thrown out by the class, but i feel pretty good about them. i feel like a wild book needs wild theories about it. I had one the first day that when he turns to a bug it is al a dream and that was pretty well received by the class and the teach even brought it up as the main point of discussion the next day. So this encouraged me to come up with more. I had one idea that the time that had originally thought he was dreaming that he was really dead. explaining why the clerk runs away in horror when he see him. Also why all the trash starts pilling up in his room. and why he never gets any more attention from the family. i had another idea that he was an illusion to jesus. this coming from the three men with beards that move in to the room that they rent out, saying that these three men are the three kings. argumenting this was that the author is jewish but he was a founding member of jews for jesus. and this could be his idea of what would happen to the coming mesia. that he would be used untill he runs dry and then ignored when in pain. OR MAYBE the family is judast and gregor is jesus on the cross. man this book trips me out but i couyld go on forever. i'm agnostic but i have this class after art history and we talk about religious stories all the time there.
a post talking about religion soon to come.

Zednik
Hockey only really gets good press if some one got suspended for more than 20 games or there is some freak accident. The other day isn't much different. Richard Zednik is an awesome player for the panthers and the other night going into the corner his team mate fell in front of him and cut his neck with his skate. Doctors said today that the artery was hanging by a thread when they operated which probably saved his life. Had the cut been worse they would have had to find both loose ends and then reattach them, at which time his brain would have been cut off from blood for too long. Zednik, in an incredible feat of strength and toughness skated over to the bench on his own power to get attention. The game stopped for 15 minutes and only started back up after the blood was scraped up and a zambonie was brought out to resurface the ice. the teams did not go back on the ice till they had heard that they had stopped the bleeding.
i can't even imagine the thought that were going on in his head at the time. to hold your open neck in your hands has to be an incredibly sobering moment. especially when you were just playing an intense game just moments before. i am in awe of this happening and in the past 48 hours can not stop thinking about this. I don't pray so i'm going to hope that Zednik plays again some day after all these stitches. He's a great player but now he won't be remembered for his ability but for this incident.

had to get my Adobe Jawn going on in computers and made this warning label for myself. I've pretty much been living on coffee every morning so i thought it was appropriate. I'm not a huge fan of the text. Maybe it'll get some more work later, or maybe i'll just keep that in mind for the next project. I'll have to down load some new fonts too (Mental note).

Facebook is the downfall of all photographic potential of my generation. I consider this generation any one from the age of 26 to 13.
Two or three girls with their faces pressed together is not a good photograph. To say that it is not a good photograph is to suggest that there is a good picture and sure good is subjective but a few criteria points survive. These include, color, composition, and a story.
The picture needs decent colors, it needs a theme of colors and not washed out.
The picture needs composition that was done on purpose. the subjects in the picture we're placed randomly, a decision was made to put something in a place.
there needs to be a story about the picture. Something happened before the picture and the objects in the picture are working on getting to another point. this is true for people in the picture. Photos of texture or inanimate objects need not apply.
Hold out your hand an take a picture of you faces and your telling me what eyeliner you wore to the party. Where are you? How did you get there? Where is the top of your head?
Take a candid picture of some one that doesn't know its coming and they don't know you took it afterwards, if nothing else there will be a mood around the person wether you meant for it to look that way or not.
and turn off your flash and turn on the lights
(and why do we need to turn our faces to the to the side and give a hint of a smile. this is the most over played pose. Some teeny bopper broke in to the magazine model poses and broke out an easy one and passed it around to her margarita friends.)
